Preamble
All I’ll say about this week is that if you’re thinking about getting into jigsaw puzzles, maybe start with a 100 piece puzzle instead of 2000, even if the 2000 piece puzzle looks beautiful.
These things happened this week
- My puzzle mat arrived so now I am obviously an expert jigsaw puzzler.
- I got given a bible on my short walk from home to my usual cafe. When I’m in a good mood I will talk to you if you’re polite. This man was polite so we had a little chat. I feel bad after these kinds of interactions[Jump to footnote 1] because I think people conflate intrigue or compassion with intent to follow up. I will not be following up 😬.
- Emma and I watched Harold & Maude on Valentine’s Day at a pop-up cinema. I forgot how brilliant (but dark) the beginning is.
- I went to my first peer-support group meeting for the volunteer thing I’m doing. Everyone is so lovely!
Overheard through the days
- “He gave 1000 people cataracts surgery”
Yours,Leaf
Footnotes
- A few years ago I was exiting London Bridge station when a lady stopped me and we chatted about her religious beliefs, and I shared my lack of them. It was a really interesting chat and before I went on my way, she said something like, “I’m going to meet you again, I just know it.” I look out for her sometimes; it felt like she needed me more than I needed her.
